It is basically a series of techniques used to optimize your
website for the search engines, while maintaining the quality of
information and design, in it.
Any good search engine optimization company would
do the
following.

Finding out the right keywords/key phrases
through
research, which best describe your business and that which people have
been popularly using in the internet.

Creating or changing the Meta tags of pages to
be
optimized. The Meta tags are the title tag, the description tag, and
the keywords tag. The title tag contains the title to the page, which
would be modified to be as descriptive of your page as possible, as
well as have the targeted keywords/key phrases embedded in it. The
description tag contains a short description of the page, and would be
modified to contain targeted keywords/key phrases, while maintaining
the descriptiveness of it. The keywords tag would be modified to
include all the possible targeted keywords, without repetition of any.
